Course Information:
The course will consist of a swim, bike and run (in this order). Please see Course Map.
Swim: Issued swim caps are required. You will start on the beach at the designated start area for your age group. The course will be marked by buoys.
Once you complete the swim course, you will run up the beach to the Transition Area to pick up your bicycle.
Bike: You will exit the Transition Area and walk/run your bicycle to the mount/dismount line with your bike helmet on and securely strapped to your head. Volunteers will assist you on where to go and when to begin riding. It is very important that you do not get on your bicycle until you reach the “mount” line or get off your bicycle until you reach the “dismount” line at the end of the bike course. This is to ensure safety and will be strictly enforced.
Athletes will travel up the parking lot and take a left onto Ala Moana Park Drive. You will bike past McCoy Pavilion and take a right at the key hole area (after the tennis courts) where you will turn around and bike back down Ala Moana Park Drive, returning to the Transition Area, where you started. 7-10 year olds will bike the course once, 11-14 year olds will do two laps in which the turnaround will be in the parking lot. Volunteers will be stationed along the course to direct you.
You will dismount at the “dismount” line and walk your bicycle back into the Transition Area to be returned to the same spot it was taken from. You may then prepare for the run portion of the race.
Note: The bike course will be closed to traffic, however, please follow the directions of HPD, volunteers and the Race Officials at all times. Athletes should ride on the right hand side of the lane and pass on the left. At no time should you cross the center line.
Run: Volunteers will guide you to exit the Transition Area and to the start of the run course, which will take place on the sidewalks of Magic Island Park. The run will start on the sidewalk that parallels the end of the Parking Lot and run in a clockwise direction. 7-10 year olds will run the small loop while the 11-14 year olds will complete the larger loop. Volunteers will be stationed along the course to direct you along the course and to the Finish Line
Note: You are responsible for turning in your timing chip at the Finish Line. There will be a fee assessed for all timing chips not returned.
