12th Annual Meadow Gold Milk Carton RegattaAhoy, Educators!
Get your teams ready for the 12th Annual Meadow Gold Milk Carton Regatta on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Magic Island at Ala Moana Beach Park. The program is going to be bigger and better than ever, and new activities are sure to make waves! The concept of the Regatta is simple: students create boats using Meadow Gold and/or Viva brand half-gallon milk cartons. The Regatta Program encourages students to use science, math, and industrial arts applications to design, test and construct their boat, while also fostering leadership, responsibility, teamwork, creativity and motivation. The teachers will have a chance to flex their muscles in the Teachers’ Race with the victorious teacher winning a Meadow Gold ice cream party for his or her class. In addition, we will once again host the Media Race, featuring local news personalities paddling student boats. The upcoming Regatta will now be a part of a larger Meadow Gold Milk Carton Regatta & Kids Triathlon event. Due to the rising rate of obesity among Hawai‘i’s children, we are offering this day-long event to instill the importance of physical activity, nutrition, and health to our keiki and their families. The event will also feature a Health & Wellness Fair and other activities. Since 1996, the Meadow Gold Milk Carton Regatta Program has combined the importance of academics, physical fitness and nutrition for hundreds of students as part of our commitment to supporting our community through health, education and nutrition initiatives.
